Dolls cross time and culture. A doll reflects our experience of our selves. Zonnekind dolls are dolls to play with, to love and to cuddle. They are made of all-natural materials: silk, cotton and wool, and are filled with washed and carded wool, which makes them soft and warm to the touch.
The jersey used to create Zonnekind dolls is dyed in a variety of warm skin colours.
The head is firmly attached to the body, the arms and legs are flexible. Details like ears, nose, fingers, toes and navel are intentionally left out, to stimulate the use of the child's fantasy. Our dolls are especially designed to facilitate the child's desire to express a variety of feelings and emotions through play.
They are safe and cuddle-proof.
Every age brings it's own and special way of playing, placing a demand on the toys offered. Zonnekind dolls form their own sequence. The older the child, the more defined the dolls become.
Any toy that stimulates the child's natural ability to activate it's inner creativity is a good toy. The Zonnekind doll's facial expression is neutral and subtly defined, often through the use of coloured pencils. This enables the child to imagine the doll is laughing, crying or sleeping.
Essential for the first seven years of a child's development is the way it experiences the world through it's environment. Unconsciously absorbed impressions deeply penetrate the organism and the subconscious.
This is why it is of the utmost importance to offer a child high quality materials. Animal- and plant matter, when tampered with as little as possible, will retain it's natural character.
This plays a significant part in the awakening of the child's desire to play. The use of all-natural materials is essential for a healthy (sensorial) development.
